Marketing Multiple Youtube Channels
As you may have heard already, online video is big for marketing your business online and strengthening you as a brand. Youtube is the largest video sharing site in the world at the moment. It is also the 2nd largest search engine after Google (who owns it). There are a few things to take into consideration if you are wanting to leverage this in your online marketing strategy.
The one I want to underline today is the use of multiple Youtube channels. Most of the Youtube Partners (those who Youtube pays to create content) have multiple channels. There is a reason to their madness. Some of them have daily shows on different channels with a different objective or flavour on each one. Take PhilipDeFranco for one. Serious online marketers do the same but their different channels reflect the different product niches they are promoting.
Youtube as a Search Engine VS Television Networks as Broadcasters
While Youtube is an excellent place to host and share your video content, it is important to remember that being a search engine that uses different algorithms to measure relevant content you need to consider your use of keywords. Traditional television broadcasters only had to think about content for their viewers and not how to be found.
Networks would have their channels and then populate them with different shows. Each Youtube channel is like an individual show you would find like Saturday night hockey or the six o’clock news. Television viewers did not have the luxury of choice that is now available to Youtube viewers. People are now a lot more discriminate about how and what they watch. It is essential to take that into consideration.
On Youtube, it is best to see each channel as a show unto its own with one specific topic or niche being the focus. If you have multiple topics you want to cover, it is more effective to have a completely different channel. You have to make it clear to your audience what it is you are speaking about. In this day and age, your audience has to find you and if you are talking about all sorts of things, the tools that let them find you (the SERPS) will not know what to make of you.
Categories
Some people are looking for education or how too and others are looking for comedy for instance. You will recall that when you set up your channel, Youtube asked you to define what type of channel you are . When you upload a video it asks you again what is the category for the video. If you are inconsistent with your categories your targeted audience may be missing out.
Keywords Are Your Niche
Keywords are the device that bring your audience to you. Unless you launch with fire the way Rebecca Black did with her first ever video beating the world record in viral speed for number of views building a personal brand takes a while. When marketing a business or a brand, your channel should be built around your keywords. So if you have multiple offerings in related fields, you may want to consider multiple channels if Youtube is going to be one of your main tools for creating and sharing content.
How many channels do you have on the go? Please share a link or two if you want and tell me what your focus niche is.
Thanks for reading.
