Beating Google Friend Connect and Chris Lang
I have an online internet marketing friend named Chris Lang who is a Google nut and he is more than ready for “Google Me” and has been for a while now. I first met him when I was working with Simon U Ford of Social Traffic and we went head to head with Chris and Google to rank for a very competitive Search term in Youtube, that being “Google Friend Connect”. Within a week were able to beat out over 10 Google videos that already had 10 thousand views and had been online for over 9 months for the term for the number one spot. Chris Lang was also in the race to own that term. But where Chris was doing it alone Eventslisted worked as a team. What we were wanting to demonstrate at the time was that Google ranked comments and ranks higher than they did just number of views. If you go to Youtube you will see that even today, all 22 spots on the first page belong to either Google, Chris Lang or Simon Ford’s Eventslisted. In the general web search Chris Lang has been able to win the 4th position on the first page and the Eventslisted Youtube video a little further down.
Chris Lang the Mad Scientist AKA Wickedly Evil Social Marketer
Since this time Chris has pursued his research into Google like a mad scientist. I recently had the opportunity of speaking with him again as I lined him up for a radio interview. He gave me a lot of homework to prepare for the interview even though I was not the one conducting it. His biggest area of research is around “Google Me”. I have no idea if you have been paying attention but I certainly was not. There is so much stuff to keep abreast of online that I had not given much attention to what Google was doing aside from Search and what its business model was and what the wars were between Google and Facebook. So when Chris sent me this video on his predictions about “Google Me” and then asked me to join his conversations in Google Buzz I had a wake-up call. What Google is doing is very important and Chris has some very heated academic discussions going on in his Buzz. One post in September1 had over 250 comment interactions and these were not trite but very engaged and thoughtful. One of the biggest points I was left with was that Google is focused on business. Think about it, when you go to do a Google search, you are looking for information now. This information may be about finding a place to purchase something or go to. Facebook on the other hand is all about the party. People share photos, stories and what they did with their friends and family but when they want to know where the closest music bar/church or winestore is they are using Google search or Google maps. Think about it. Are you ready for “Google Me”?
Chris Lang’s GwaveMastery for Internet Marketers

Chris Lang works very closely with Google sources. If you read his blogs or belong to his Gwavemastery newsletter/coaching call you will get the BIG picture firsthand. Why am I telling you this?…especially those of you who are internet marketers or small business owners or TSA members? is because it is important. Google is important and Chris reminded me and then proceeded to show my why. I have not fully understood it as Chris has essentially become the specialist over the past two years solely on Google products and he has a lot to share. I called him the Nostradamus of Google and then found out that others had as well.
Google Profile and Gmail
You need to get your Google Profile set up so that it is findable and connected with your name and Gmail account. Google owns Youtube and if you have paid any attention lately you will have noticed that they are tweaking how you connect to it and that some of its functionality has changed. You need to add a Google Friend Connect widget to your blog and befriend those that join. This is the subway that connects together all the Google sites and apps including your Gmail account.
Google’s Nostradamus’ (Cris Lang) Predictions for Google Me
According to Chris, the Youtube friends feature is based on the Google Friend Connect structure. As Google gets ready to unveil “Google Me”, Chris predicts that these will all be tied together and connected to the social site for Google. Google has over 30 apps that add huge functionality and marketing tools to their system. So for any of you that are business owners that want to sell things or services online I suggest that you take some time and start using Google‘s tools. Google, like any business owner gives preferential treatment to those that use their services over the competitions. Stay tuned to Chris Lang (via Buzz )this Tuesday as he speaks with Travis Campbell about “Google Me”. I recommend getting his GwaveMastery as well.
Please friend me in my Google Friend Connect widget at the top of the page by joining and then clicking on my head. Thanks for dropping by.
